All Pilgrims welcomes Maiah Merino to the staff this summer; she will be working with our young children and helping us find new ways to invite children and their parents to be part of our faith community.
Maiah is a highly credentialed professional who has worked in mental health settings with children and teens. She has a master’s degree in Applied Behavioral Sciences and is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and a Certified Child Mental Health professional. She is a minority mental health specialist and works with Latinos and Native Americans. She is bilingual (English and Spanish).
Her work has included staff positions with Cowlitz Tribal Health, United Indians of All Tribes Foundation, YMCA Family Services and Mental Health, The Center for Ethical Leadership and the School of Social Work at the University of Washington.
Maiah is the mother of Mateo who is 20 months old. She is also a published author of poetry and essays.
Children ages 0 to 12 are welcome to join Maiah in the Weld Room each Sunday after the lighting of the Christ candle. She will be leading creative activities that follow the scripture readings in the adult service. Our Worship and Wonder/Seasons of the Spirit curriculum and teachers will be taking a break until September.
Maiah will also be reaching out to parents and students to explore ideas for outreach to children and families.
Please give Maiah & Mateo a warm All Pilgrims welcome!
