Come and Meet Our New Global Ministries Missionaries

At 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 8 at Lake City Christian Church, we will have an opportunity to “Meet and Greet” the newest Global Ministries missionaries.  Kim and Erik Free from the Oregon Region will begin a 4-year term serving with the United Church of Christ in Mozambique, Africa.  Kim will be working in medicine and health and Eric we be supporting pastoral ministries.  You can learn about the experiences the Frees have had in Mission Trips to Mexico and a Summer Teach Program with the Amity Foundation in China which have prepared them for overseas ministry.

In this informal gathering Kim and Erik will be introducing themselves and the Global Ministries work they will be engaged in, showing a video of the scope and variety of the work of the church in Mozambique, Africa and the great need in that area.  You will have opportunity to join them with your prayers and individuals can make financial gifts to support their going.   Because of the decrease in giving to both the UCC and Disciples at the general level, Global Ministries has to rely on over-and-above individual gifts for their support.  The national goal is to raise $50,000 for each of the four years for their total support.  On-line gifts can be made through Global Ministries at: http://globalministries.org/africa/projects/missionary-support-for-erik.html

GLOBAL MINISTRIES is the partnership of the United Church of Christ and The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) to receive and share the Good News of Jesus Christ by joining with global and local partners to work for justice, reconciliation and peace.  Our Regional/Conference Global Ministries Committee shares these goals.
