Community Action: Hate Violence

Please join The Northwest Network of LGBT Survivors of Abuse for this trio of important events.  The NW Network’s Voices in Power (VIP) Program invites our communities to a series of conversations to discuss anti-LGBT hate & bias related violence.  In communities across the country, we are seeing an increase in reports of hate & bias attacks and harassment against LGBTQ people.   Not only do these reports show an increase in the number of incidents, but an increase in intensity of violence and harm, especially against transgender people.  We believe that it is important for our communities to come together to engage with each other about our experiences and our visions of communities free from violence.  Please join us the third Tuesday of the month in November & December to participate in these critical conversations:

Community Action: Hate Violence- Response Recommendations and Community Resources

Tuesday November 19th 6:30-8:00 pm at Queer Youth Space (911 E. Pike St. Seattle, WA)

This forum will look at what it will take to implement solutions and responses to violence that work for all members of our communities, as well as cultivate and share community resources.

Community Action: Hate Violence- Intersections: Race, Poverty, Urban Renewal/Gentrification

Tuesday December 17th 6:30-8:00 pm at Queer Youth Space (911 E. Pike St. Seattle, WA)

This final event will look at important intersections when talking about hate violence, including issues of race, class, homelessness, and gentrification/urban renewal.  Please join us to discuss these vital issues as we come together to end violence in all its forms.

All of the events are all ages, free and open to the public.  Everyone is welcome to come to any and all events.

For the past 27 years the Northwest Network of LGBT Survivors of Abuse has been doing work by and for LGBT survivors of violence.  We recently launched our LGBT Hate Violence Information Gathering Line at 206-214-9834; our anonymous message line for LGBTQ people to share information about hate/bias violence and harassment.  People can leave information about what happened, where the incident(s) took place, how often the incident(s) have occurred, and the impact of the incident(s).   For more information please see this FAQ.

Brought to you by The Northwest Network’s Voices in Power Program, supporting LGBT youth (13-24) around issues of violence, crime and healthy relationships skills.  For questions about any of these events or to find out how you can get involved please contact The Northwest Network of LGBT Survivors of Abuse at 206-568-7777 or
