Hello and welcome to Lambda Ministries!
Lambda was founded by Rev. Bruce Harrington in 1996. Through his and past leaders' guidance, Lambda has become a catalyst, enhancing change of liberation occurring within individuals, faith traditions and the GLBT community through:
- providing a safe space to discuss our spirituality; share our journeys, concerns and insights and to receive and give encouragement.
- promoting the inclusion, affirmation and integration of GLBT persons in the life of ones faith tradition.
- Connecting GLBT/faith-based organizations and community resources toward our goals.

I am Rev. Mark Travis, co-pastor of All Pilgrims Christian Church, and if you are a GLBT person, or someone who is questioning, know that Lambda is a safe and affirming place.
Meeting Times
Lambda usually meets on the third Sunday of each month at 2 PM in the Chapel, located off Republican Street (check the calendar page). The gatherings are informal yet structured. We begin by checking in, then there is a scripture or other reading for us to reflect on and talk about. Finally, we close in prayer. We occasionally hold joint meetings with other GLBT groups such as Multifaith Alliance of Reconciling Communities (MARC).
(note: Lambda is not a therapy session, but a place where people can share their life struggles and joys in a non-judgmental and non-threatening environment.)

Following the fellowship, groups are free to go eat, have fun or do whatever. We may also have potlucks, watch movies in the chapel, decorate the church for the holidays, hold bake-off's, play games, etc, that would take the place of previously structured meetings. Other avenues for community participation are the Seattle Men's chorus, Seattle Pride Activities, Dancing - you get the picture. I am always open to suggestions to help see Lambda as our ministry grow. E-mail me your comments at lambda@allpilgrims.org. |
The Goals of Lambda Ministries are to:
- Affirm the Judeo-Christian story as a story of the liberation for all persons, regardless of sexual orientation.
- Support persons through pastoral counseling, resource referrals, social justice activism, and educational programming rooted in the liberating and non-judgmental belief systems of the United Church of Christ and Disciples of Christ.
- Help individuals create affirming rituals, the transitions of the lives of GLBT persons in our community.
- Empower both the GLBT community and the Christian community to give voice to the dignity of all persons.
- Create a bridge between the mainstream Christian community and the GLBT community.
Make up of Lambda
At the moment, Lambda fellowship is made up of predominately gay men. It is my hope that lesbians and transgender people who are looking for a place find emotional and spiritual affirmation will find a community with us.
Our religious, spiritual and political beliefs are mixed and about 40% are members of the All Pilgrims Christian Church.
You are not alone! There are many places that want you to know you are a wonderful and beautiful creation of God and Lambda Ministries is one of those places.
